Why would you need upper extremity and hand reconstruction?
Injuries to the hand and upper extremity are very common. Types of injuries range from simple cuts and scrapes to devastating injuries which could stem from falls, motor vehicle accidents, power tools, industrial accidents, accidental firearm discharge, and animal attacks just to name a few.
Many of these mutilating injuries are life-changing. Often the quality of the initial treatment could be the difference between a functional salvaged limb and an amputation. Dr. Zhang has years of experience treating these devastating injuries with success at multiple level-one trauma centers. Dr. Zhang is currently the medical director of reconstructive plastic surgery and hand surgery at Parkland Memorial hospital, the busiest level one trauma center in the Dallas and Fort Worth area.
