Symmetry procedures

Symmetry procedures

Symmetry procedures are performed to achieve aesthetic and volumetric balance in women who had unilateral breast reconstruction. For example if the native breast is smaller than the reconstructed breast, an implant can be inserted to make it match the size of the opposite breast. If the native breast is too droopy, a breast lift procedure can be performed to make it more perky. Because these procedures are performed for patients to have symmetric breasts after cancer surgery, they are generally covered by insurance. (See Symmetry procedures photos)

While we strive to achieve the best symmetric result each time, it’s not always possible due to factors beyond our control. A touch-up (or revision surgery) is used to get better aesthetic outcome for our patients. Techniques such as fat grafting, scar revision, capsular work, etc are helpful tools to help our patients get better result.
