Lower extremity

Lower extremity

Why would you need lower extremity reconstruction?

Injuries to the lower extremity are very common.  Types of injuries range from simple cuts and scrapes to devastating injuries which could stem from falls, motor vehicle accidents, industrial accidents, complications of orthopedic surgery, and animal attacks just to name a few.

Many of these injuries are life-changing.  Often the quality of the initial treatment could be the difference between regaining the ability to walk with the patient’s own legs and walking with prosthesis for the rest of the patient’s life. Dr. Zhang has years of experience treating these injuries with success at multiple academic medical centers.  Dr. Zhang is currently the medical director of reconstructive plastic surgery and hand surgery at Parkland Memorial hospital where many of these patients seek treatment.
